Students learn about the life cycle of butterflies, beetles other insects. They discover that some animals look like their parents, while others go through an incredible transformation during their life cycle. The students observe living and non-living insects.
Living Insects: Millipede, beetles and lady bugs
Non-Living Framed Insects: the Fancy Pants Walking Stick, Flower Mantis, Bullet Ant and Peanut Head Lanternfly.
Non-Living Framed Insects (Butterflies!) Monarch, Giant Forest Owl, China Peacock and Red Glider
Each show is designed for no more than 30 after school students. The presenter will need a small table to set up the live animals. It is best if the students sit in chairs in a large semi-circle and the presenter stays in one room as the students rotate between classes/groups. If a central room with chairs is unavailable, the students may sit at their desks.
Presentations can be done in the classroom, media center or cafeteria. In some cases, weather permitting, an outdoor show can be done so long as the presenter and animals are out of direct sunlight.
